Our take
The LCD-X is the studio-leaning Audeze: the planar weight and slam, but flatter and more neutral than the LCD-2/3, with a livelier top. Lower impedance and higher sensitivity make it easier to drive than most planars, though it still wants real power to slam.
Measured on a Head Acoustics HMS II.3 artificial head — raw response, left/right averaged, normalized to 0 dB at 1 kHz. From the Sonic Temple Archive(2008–2014, one unit per model). Yes for its best slam, though it is easier to drive than the LCD-2/3.
LCD-X vs LCD-3?
The X is flatter and more neutral with a livelier top; the 3 is warmer and lusher. X for work, 3 for warmth.
